KELPI “HOPE FOR OUR OCEANS” - OFFICE ARTWORKS

A commission of three paintings for the offices of Kelpi - a material innovation company, working to replace single-use plastics with bioplastics that harness the novel properties and environmental benefits of seaweed. The canvases tell a story of our oceans, littered with plastic and the terrible damage it does to marine life.

Looking to create a sense of hope, the seaweed in this series is reaching out, taking hold of the plastic and reclaiming the oceans - a metaphor for the idea that seaweed (or the use of seaweed) could play an important role in helping to reduce plastic in our seas. As the story progresses from left to right, the seaweed begins to replace the plastic, eventually leading to a plastic free environment, giving the marine life more space to grow and thrive. Here’s hoping this could be the future for our oceans..
