BRISTOL OLD VIC “MARSH TO METROPOLIS” LOBBY MURAL

Appointed by Bristol Old Vic, with the guidance of Upfest, I created a hand painted mural for this prestigious and historic theatre, as part of their beautiful new foyer extension in 2018. The “Marsh to Metropolis” mural is an abstract timeline of King Street through the ages, capturing key historical places and events.

Created over three brick walls with large amounts of detail, the mural can be found on the lower ground floor of the theatre. This project required the depiction of buildings as well as people (rather than the more nature related work I usually do) and I was really inspired by the challenge. Following a lot of research and development, working alongside the creative and history teams at BoV, it was an amazing opportunity to be able to capture little snippets of King Street’s rich history, creating characters, scenes and events, with a little humour added along the way.  More information on the project, including an interview with me can be found on the BoV website.
