A B O U T

I’m Bex, a Bristol based artist, illustrator and mural painter, working in digital and physical mediums, creating whimsical, nature inspired artwork.

My stylised creatures, characters and landmarks, portrayed within lyrical and atmospheric scenes, have been commissioned for art projects by commercial and private clients, including: publishers, advertising agencies, schools, visitor centres, theatres, cafés, local councils and public spaces. I love working across a range of mediums and platforms from painting large wildlife murals and animal characters to working on illustrations for printed and digital content, books, animations, products and more.

Work with me:

People I’ve worked with:

CBBC / Bristol City FC Robins Foundation / Bristol Old Vic Theatre / BBC Wildlife Magazine / University of Bristol Dental School & Aardman / EDF Energy / Bristol Water / WECA / Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity / University Hospital Bristol and Weston (UHBW) NHS Foundation Trust / Dartington Arts / Torbay Council / Bristol Cathedral Primary School / The English Riviera Geopark  / Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust / Amalgam Modelmaking / Torquay Museum / Millington Associates / Assembly Studios / Pearson Publishing / Ogilvy New York / Scottsville Museum, Virginia / Digital Artist Magazine / Bristol Zoo Project

My distinctive and lyrical artwork style combines soft, spray painted textures combined with organic shapes, flat colour and sharp, flowing lines. Influenced by graffiti, a childhood lived in the countryside, animated films and illustrated books, I love working in both digital and analogue mediums, including my own hand painted textures within in my digital work.

My paintings and personal artwork focus predominately on nature - exploring the delicate connections and interactions within our ever-changing natural world, depicting a fusion of land and water, where rural and urban landscapes merge and wildlife adapts to a shifting, fluid terrain. You may have seen some of my large wildlife murals and animal characters (I’m often known for my iconic foxes), who can be found painted on various streets around the UK.

I am also a graphic designer (and founder of design practice Severn Studios), with over 20 years experience of working with clients on commercial projects both large and small. My unique combination of artistic and design skills have culminated in many exciting creative projects, collaborations and opportunities.

I live and work in Bristol, a city whose energy and street art culture have played a key role in influencing the direction of my work.
