THE WILDPLACE PROJECT & UPFEST - SPRINGFEST MURAL

Such a pleasure to be asked to paint at The Wild Place Project in association with Upfest and to work alongside some other really great artists.

9 giant murals were painted in preparation for the “SpringFest” event over the May half term, in their beautiful Tower meadow, with each piece telling a story of the Wild Place’s conservation programmes from right across the world, from saving Critically Endangered lemur leaf frogs in the forests of Costa Rica, to western lowland gorillas in Equatorial Guinea in Africa, to the rivers of the UK where white-clawed crayfish are in decline.

I haven’t painted many frogs before but had great fun with this brief,  depicting these 2 lemur leaf frogs, with the scene being inspired by this sentence found during my research.. “Males call to females from plants near (or overhanging) pools and slow-moving streams.”
